Dogs

Dogs are only allowed on the urban areas around Greymouth and Hokitika. They must be on leads at all times in these areas. They are not allowed on any other areas of the trail. This is because much of the trail is on conservation land and high value scenic reserves. Sections also pass penguin colonies, areas with endangered species and private farmland.
